Bernard Johan Herman Haitink was born on March 4, 1929, in Amsterdam and passed away on October 21, 2021, in London. He grew up in a musical family, studied violin at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, and began his career as an orchestral violinist. He later studied conducting with Felix Hupka and Ferdinand Leitner, quickly gaining recognition as a rising conductor.
